Karate Philosophy

Practise with purpose. Progress with humility. Act with respect.

More than technique

Karate asks students to pay attention to how they practise as well as what they learn. Physical technique and a thoughtful attitude develop together.

Respect and self-control

Courtesy towards instructors and training partners helps create a constructive dojo. Self-control means using skills responsibly and approaching disagreement calmly.

A continuing practice

Improvement takes patience. Listen to feedback, return to the basics and recognise that there is always more to understand.

Beyond the dojo

Bring that same care to everyday life: listen before responding, honour your commitments and treat others with consideration.
