Karate for Children
A welcoming first step into movement, learning and shared responsibility.
Learning one step at a time
Karate classes give children opportunities to practise listening, movement and dojo etiquette in a structured setting. Learning a technique or remembering a sequence can become a manageable goal to work towards.
Habits worth practising
Through regular participation, children can practise:
- Listening carefully and following instructions.
- Working patiently on a task.
- Treating classmates and instructors respectfully.
- Recognising effort and learning from mistakes.
Every child develops differently. Progress should be encouraged without promising particular academic, behavioural or health outcomes.
Choosing a suitable class
Parents are encouraged to meet the instructor and ask about age suitability, supervision, safeguarding and how partner exercises are introduced. Share any relevant needs before training begins.
Take the first step
Find a nearby club and ask about visiting a class. Seeing the environment and meeting the people is a good way to decide whether it suits your child.
